We’re a homeschooling family that’s been around the block a few times—actually, more like around the lesson plan a few dozen times. For the past 15 years, my wife and I have homeschooled our seven children, sometimes full-time, sometimes part-time, but always with one goal: to help each of them learn in a way that fit them.
Before 1 Hoot academy, I spent years serving as a United States Marine, where I learned the value of discipline, adaptability, and perseverance. turns out, those same principles apply just as much in a homeschool setting as they do in the corps — minus the bootcamp.
We started homeschooling because our family needed flexibility–and because the traditional classroom wasn’t working for every one of our kids. some thrived there, others struggled, and we realized that learning should never be one-size-fits-all. so, we made the shift, determined to help each child learn at their own pace, with patience, creativity, and a little humor along the way.
